Yellow, magenta and cyan dye panels print photo-quality color, a pearlescent (P) panel adds a security layer, the black resin (K) panel prints sharp text and barcodes, and the clear overlay (O) panel protects the card. The P panel prints a shimmering, semi-transparent pearlescent layer that shows under normal light, like the color-shifting ink on currency, so a card can carry a logo or design that is easy to check and hard to copy. IDP's SMARTMarkOP feature in the SMART driver, or SMART IDesigner, assigns a bitmap to the P panel.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach roll prints up to 200 single-sided cards. Printing full color on both sides of a card uses a panel set per side, about 100 cards per roll. The roll loads into the reusable ribbon cartridge that stays in your printer, and a new disposable cleaning roller comes in the box; replace the roller each time you load a new ribbon. SMART printers read an RFID tag on genuine IDP ribbons to recognize the ribbon type.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSMART-31 and SMART-51 ribbons do not fit the SMART-21, which takes its own ribbons, or the older SMART-30 and SMART-50.
