Product Specifications

  • Part number:
  • HID's current credential platform: Seos is what HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers are built around, and what new installations are specified with.
  • Not tied to one chip: the credential is a Secure Identity Object on a standards-based platform, so the same identity can later live on a phone or a wearable.
  • 8K or 16K bytes: 8K for access control, 16K when several applications have to share one card in separate protected spaces.
  • Composite body: 60% PVC / 40% PET, rated for retransfer (high definition) and laminating printers as well as direct-to-card.
  • Optional HiCo magnetic stripe on either memory size — and on the 16K card it costs nothing extra.
  • Slot punch in either orientation on the 8K card. The 16K cannot be punched.
  • Ordering: Made to order, encoded to your formats. Minimum 100 cards.

Description

The HID Seos 500 is HID's current flagship credential and the one their newest readers are designed around. It is a 13.56 MHz smart card like iCLASS, but where iCLASS and iCLASS SE are tied to HID's own chip, Seos is not: the credential exists as a Secure Identity Object on a standards-based platform, so the same identity can later be issued to a phone or a wearable without changing how your readers work.

There are two memory sizes and the choice matters more than it looks. 8K bytes covers access control comfortably and is what most sites buy. 16K bytes is for organisations putting several applications on one credential — biometric templates, cashless vending, secure print, PC logon — each in its own protected space. One practical catch: only the 8K card can be slot punched. The 16K card cannot be punched at all, so if your badges hang from a lanyard clip rather than a holder, order the 8K.

The body is a PVC/PET composite, which is the construction to choose if your cards go through a retransfer (high definition) or laminating printer — it takes the heat where straight PVC softens. To order programmed cards, give us three things: your card format, your facility or site code, and the starting card number. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. We encode every card in the run in sequence from your start number.
