Description
The HID Seos 574 is an access credential made from FSC certified natural bamboo — 85% bamboo, 14% TPU, 1% other — carrying the same 8K byte Seos chip and Secure Identity Object as the plastic cards. It ships slot punched vertically and personalised by factory laser engraving. For organisations with a sustainability commitment that has to survive contact with procurement, it is a credential that looks and feels different without giving up anything at the reader.
Two things to know before you commit. The bamboo is a natural material, so colour and grain vary from card to card — that is inherent, not a defect, and a population of these will not look uniform the way a run of white PVC does. And HID warrant this card for three years, not the lifetime warranty that covers every other credential in the Seos range. It also runs a narrower temperature range, -31 to 122 °F.
Handling matters more than with plastic. Keep it out of prolonged high humidity, do not submerge it (if it does get wet, dry it at room temperature), do not bend it, and do not over-stress the slot punch — HID rate it to a maximum 60 N pull force, which is well inside normal lanyard use but not enough to survive being yanked.
