The 84911 (084911) YMCK ribbon was discontinued in July 2025. The 84921 is its official replacement from HID Global with a modernized dye formula that provides enhanced color quality. Both ribbons offer 750 prints for the HDP6600 — same yield, improved performance. If you have existing 84911 stock, it will continue to work normally. When you reorder, simply switch to 84921.
What's the difference between 84921 (YMCK) and 84922 (YMCKK)?
The 84921 YMCK ribbon has four panels: Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, and one resin Black. It prints full color plus black text/barcodes on one side of the card (750 prints). The 84922 YMCKK ribbon has five panels with two resin Black panels — one for the front and one for the back (600 prints). Use YMCKK when you need black text or barcodes on both sides of your cards.
Do I need HDP Film to use this ribbon?
Yes, absolutely. HDP retransfer printing requires both the ribbon and the HDP Film to work. The ribbon prints your image onto the film, then the film transfers to the card.
