IDP 651358 Upper Mag Stripe Encoder
The IDP 651358 is the upper-position magnetic stripe encoder for IDP SMART-51 direct-to-card printers. The SMART-51 can mount its magnetic head on the upper or lower side of the card path; this version encodes a stripe on the top side of the card, where IDP's standard 651356 encodes the other side. It writes and reads ISO 7811 tracks 1, 2 and 3 on HiCo or LoCo stripes.
IDP lists its SMART series encoders as field upgradeable, so it can be ordered with a new printer or added to one you already have. After installation, set the magnetic head position to upper in IDP's printer configuration utility. Check which side your card stock carries its stripe before choosing between the 651358 and the 651356.
