Overview

Professional credentials, printed at your desk

The Magicard Pronto100 is a single-sided direct-to-card printer built for organizations that need professional photo-ID cards without a large machine or a steep learning curve. It prints a full-color card in about 18 seconds (23 seconds in HD photo mode) and a monochrome card in 4.7 seconds, fast enough for front-desk badging in schools, healthcare, government, and small-to-mid card programs, all from Magicard's smallest printer footprint.

Every card the Pronto100 prints carries a HoloKote security watermark. HoloKote is a patented Magicard feature: the printer presses a fine, repeating watermark into the card's clear overlay as part of the normal print process, at no extra cost or effort. Tilt a finished card in the light and the design appears, giving you a fast way to confirm a card is genuine. The Pronto100 includes three standard HoloKote designs that you select in the printer driver. For stronger, distance-visible security, print onto HoloPatch cards: their reflective gold seal makes the watermark stand out under any lighting, like a hologram, readable from across a room. The Pronto100 uses Magicard's standard HoloKote designs; printing your own logo as the watermark (Custom HoloKote) requires a Magicard 300 or 600.

Its Digital Shredding feature erases card data from the printer after each job, so cardholder information is not left behind, which helps meet GDPR and general data-privacy requirements. The Pronto100 connects over USB or Ethernet, so it can sit on one desk or be shared across a network, and Magicard's Clix interface lets you handle setup, maintenance, and supply reordering from a browser. Windows, macOS, and Linux drivers are all available, and it works with the free Magicard HUB platform for browser-based card design and fleet monitoring.

It loads drop-in Magicard dye film cassettes with no film threading, prints edge to edge with optimized color profiles, and supports rewritable cards. It is covered by a 3-year MagiCover limited warranty on the printer and printhead. In North America the Pronto100 is also listed as part number 3100-0001/2; the /2 simply marks the North America (Region 2) version. Specialist ID is an authorized Magicard dealer.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Does the Pronto100 print on both sides of a card?
No, the Pronto100 prints on one side. If you need automatic two-sided printing, look at the Magicard 300 or 600, which offer dual-sided models.
What size and type of cards does it use?
It prints on standard CR80 and CR79 cards from 0.51 mm to 1.02 mm thick (about 20 to 40 mil), including PVC, self-adhesive, rewritable, and HoloPatch cards. Compatible blank cards are listed in the Compatible Supplies section above.
What ribbon does the Pronto100 use, and how many cards does it print?
It uses Magicard MD-series dye film. The full-color MD100YMCKO roll prints 100 cards, and the Pronto100 prints in monochrome using the black panel of that same film. Every compatible film is listed above.
What is HoloKote, and does the Pronto100 include it?
HoloKote is Magicard's patented security watermark, pressed into the card's clear overlay on every print at no extra cost. Tilt the card in the light and the watermark appears. The Pronto100 includes three standard HoloKote designs you choose in the driver.
Can I use my own logo as the HoloKote watermark?
Not on the Pronto100, which uses Magicard's three standard designs. Printing your own logo as the watermark (Custom HoloKote) is available on the Magicard 300 and 600.
What are HoloPatch cards?
HoloPatch cards have a reflective gold seal in one corner. When the Pronto100 prints its HoloKote watermark over that seal, the watermark becomes brightly visible under any lighting, like a hologram, and can be verified from six feet away.
Can I connect it to my network, and is it Mac compatible?
Yes. The Pronto100 has both USB and Ethernet built in, so it can sit on one desk or be shared across a network. Magicard provides Windows, macOS, and Linux drivers, which you can download from the Drivers section on this page.
What warranty does it include, and is Specialist ID an authorized dealer?
The Pronto100 carries a 3-year MagiCover limited warranty on the printer and printhead, including 50,000-card printhead coverage, with an optional one-year extension. Specialist ID is an authorized Magicard dealer, so your printer, supplies, and warranty are backed by Magicard.
