Visitor badges that expire on their own
Two-part system: This badge front is not a full solution. A compatible badge back is required for use.
This is a thermal-printable expiring badge front, part number T6451, 1-15/16" x 2-13/16", with a half-day expiration. It is the printable top half of a two-piece TEMPbadge visitor badge. The finished badge shows visual proof when time is up, so an expired visitor pass cannot be reused.
How it works
The front is the face of the badge. Print the visitor name and your layout from a direct thermal printer. The front also sets the expiration speed: this half-day front expires about 4 to 6 hours after it is applied. Press it onto any TEMPbadge back to start the timer. Red stripes from the back then appear through the front when the badge expires.
What you need
A TEMPbadge badge back, sold separately. This front fits the 3" x 3" clip-on back family (T5913A and its color and title options) and the T6032A adhesive back, a common pairing for short visits.

The color builds until the badge reads expired
Once the badge is activated, dye migrates at a steady rate and the expiring area shades from white to pink to red. These are the actual TEMPbadge lab shade charts; the dashed box marks the recommended expiration time.
Times are approximate. The timer is chemical: warmth and humidity speed it up, cool dry air slows it down.
