The HID FARGO DTC1250e is a direct-to-card ID card printer built for organizations that need to print and encode secure, two-sided credentials in one step. It prints a full-color card in about 16 seconds (around 225 cards per hour) and automatically prints both sides of the card. This is the fully loaded dual-sided model, part number 050146 (also listed as 50146): USB plus Ethernet with an internal print server, an ISO magnetic stripe encoder, and an integrated OMNIKEY 5122 encoder for HID iCLASS, MIFARE, and DESFire contactless and contact smart cards.

It prints at 300 dpi, combining dye-sublimation for photo-quality color with resin thermal transfer for sharp black text and barcodes. Automatic dual-sided printing puts photos and color on the front and barcodes, data, or instructions on the back. Designed for ultralow maintenance, the EZ ribbon cartridge loads in seconds and its integrated cleaning roller is replaced automatically with every ribbon change.

This configuration is ideal for access-control and secure-credential programs: print both sides of the card, encode the magnetic stripe, and personalize iCLASS, MIFARE, or DESFire smart-card technology in a single workflow, all over a shared network connection. Built-in security protects your card program: AES-256 encryption secures data in transit between your PC and the printer, while HID's resin scramble feature renders used ribbon panels unreadable.

Can the DTC1250e print on both sides of a card?
Yes. It comes in single-sided and dual-sided versions, and the dual-sided model prints the front and back automatically - handy for a photo and details on the front with a barcode, data, or terms on the back. Use the selector above to choose single- or dual-sided.
What size and type of cards does it use?
It prints on standard CR-80 cards (credit-card size) and CR-79 adhesive-back cards, in PVC or PVC-composite. Compatible blank cards are listed in the Compatible Supplies section above.
What ribbon does the DTC1250e use, and how many cards does a ribbon print?
It uses HID FARGO EZ (disposable) and ECO (refillable) ribbon cartridges. A standard full-color YMCKO ribbon prints about 300 cards, the dual-sided YMCKOK about 250, and monochrome ribbons up to 1,000. Every compatible ribbon is listed above.
How fast is it?
It prints a full-color card in about 16 seconds (roughly 225 cards per hour) and a monochrome card in about 6 seconds, one of the fastest direct-to-card printers in its class.
Can it encode magnetic stripe or smart cards?
Yes, depending on the configuration you select above. It can add an ISO magnetic stripe encoder and/or an integrated encoder for HID Prox, iCLASS, MIFARE, and DESFire smart cards, ideal for access control and secure credentials.
Can I connect it to my network?
Yes. USB is standard on every model, and the Ethernet configurations include an internal print server so multiple workstations can share the printer.

How secure is the DTC1250e?
