The Entrust Sigma DS2C is the subscription-simple way to own a professional dual-sided ID card printer. It is the same next-generation Sigma engine as the DS2 — front-and-back printing with no manual flipping, smartphone-style setup, and a Printer Dashboard you can manage from your phone — offered at a lower hardware price because the software comes with your ribbons instead of a separate license.
How Instant ID as a Service works
The DS2C runs exclusively on Entrust Instant ID as a Service (IIDaaS) ribbons. Every IIDaaS ribbon includes the license for Entrust’s cloud issuance software for the life of that ribbon: design badges, manage cardholders, and print from a browser — and issue a digital mobile flashpass alongside every physical card. There is no software to buy, install, or maintain; when a ribbon runs out, the next ribbon continues the service. You pay as you print.
Ribbons that include the software
Choose the IIDaaS YMCKT full-color ribbon in 250-print (525170-201) or 500-print (525170-204) sizes, or the IIDaaS YMCKT-KT dual-sided ribbon with black-resin back panels for 350 cards (525170-205). Standard Entrust ribbons are not compatible with the DS2C — if you prefer traditional ribbons with separately purchased software, choose the standard Sigma DS2 instead.
Secure by design
The Sigma platform treats the printer as a trusted IoT device: Secure Boot blocks tampered firmware at power-up, a Trusted Platform Module holds the printer’s own Entrust-backed TLS certificate, every connection to the issuance service is encrypted, and no cardholder data remains in the printer after the card prints.
Room to grow
The DS2C supports the Sigma CLM inline lamination module (sold separately) for tamper-evident, multi-year credentials — laminated cards should be printed on composite PVC/PET card stock. Optional ISO magnetic stripe and smart card encoding (contact and contactless, including MIFARE, DESFire, HID Prox, iCLASS, and Seos) are also available, configured to order — speak with a specialist to build out your system.
Specialist ID is an authorized Entrust partner — your printer and supplies are fully backed by Entrust, including a 48-month printer warranty, a full year longer than the standard DS2, with in-region software support included.
