About this card

The HID iCLASS 2000 is a 13.56 MHz contactless smart card carrying 2k bits (256 bytes) of memory divided into two application areas. It is a standard PVC card with a smooth print surface, so one card is both a door credential and a photo ID badge. Every card is programmed to order to match your readers.

iCLASS differs from proximity in one important way: it is keyed as well as formatted. The recommended configuration programs the card with a Secure Identity Object (SIO) and the standard iCLASS access control application, which works with standard-keyed iCLASS and iCLASS SE readers. You can also order the standard iCLASS application on its own, or take the card unprogrammed and encode it in house with an iCLASS SE encoder.

To order programmed cards, give us three things: your card format, your facility or site code, and the starting card number. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. We encode every card in the run in sequence from your start number. Not sure what you have? Send two or three of your existing cards and we will read them and match the encoding. Printing on a laminating or retransfer (high definition) printer that runs hot? Choose the composite version, iCLASS 2100, which resists warping.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to provide to order programmed cards?
Three things: your card format (for example Standard 26-bit H10301), your facility or site code, and the starting card number. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. We encode every card in the run in sequence from your start number.
What is the difference between the two programming options?
The recommended option programs the card with a Secure Identity Object (SIO) and the standard iCLASS access control application, so it works with both standard-keyed iCLASS readers and iCLASS SE readers. The second option programs the standard iCLASS access control application alone, for older installations. A third option ships the card unprogrammed for you to encode in house with an iCLASS SE encoder.
Will these work with my existing iCLASS readers?
They work with standard-keyed HID iCLASS and iCLASS SE readers. If your site uses the HID Elite key program rather than the standard keyset, your credentials have to be ordered against your own Elite key reference, so tell us before you order and we will handle it with HID.
What is the minimum order and how are quantities counted?
The minimum is 100 cards in increments of 100. Custom printed artwork raises the minimum to 500. Every run is made to order and encoded to your exact specification.
Can I print a photo or logo on these cards?
Yes. The 2000 is a standard PVC card with a smooth surface for direct-to-card printing. If you print on a laminating printer or a retransfer (high definition) printer that runs hot, choose the composite version, the iCLASS 2100, whose polyester core resists warping.
How much memory do I need?
The 2000 carries 2k bits (256 bytes) across two application areas, which is ample for access control alone. If you plan to add a second application such as cashless vending, biometric templates or logical access, step up to the 32k models, the 2003 and 2004.
