About this card

The HID iCLASS 2104 pairs the high-memory 32k iCLASS chip with a composite card body. It is a 13.56 MHz contactless smart card carrying 32k bits (4K bytes) partitioned as 16k/16 plus 16k/1, built on a 60/40 polyester and PVC core. Every card is programmed to order to match your readers.

Two reasons to choose this card. The memory: a 32k card exists so several applications can live on one credential, and the 16k/16 partition divides half of it into sixteen protected application areas for access control alongside cashless vending, biometrics, logical access or a third-party system. And the body: a 60/40 core resists the warping and delamination that heat causes, which makes it the right card for laminating printers and for retransfer, or high definition (HDP), printing. If you print on a standard direct-to-card printer, the PVC iCLASS 2004 is the more economical choice.

To order programmed cards, give us three things: your card format, your facility or site code, and the starting card number. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. We encode every card in the run in sequence from your start number.

Frequently asked questions

Do I actually need 32k of memory?
Only if more than door access is going on the card. Access control uses very little space, and the 2k iCLASS 2100 handles it comfortably for a lot less money. A 32k card exists so several applications can share one credential, each in its own protected area: cashless vending, a biometric template, logical access, or a third-party system.
When should I choose composite over PVC?
Choose composite when heat is involved. A 60/40 polyester and PVC core resists the warping and delamination that comes from a laminating printer or from retransfer, also called high definition or HDP, printing where the image is fused through a film carrier. On a standard direct-to-card printer the PVC iCLASS 2004 does the same job for less.
What is the difference between the 2103 and the 2104?
Both carry 32k bits (4K bytes); they differ in how the memory is partitioned. The 2104 is 16k/16 plus 16k/1, which divides half the memory into sixteen application areas. The 2103 is 16k/2 plus 16k/1, which gives two larger areas instead. Your access control or application vendor will tell you which layout their system expects.
What do I need to provide to order programmed cards?
Three things: your card format, your facility or site code, and the starting card number. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. We encode every card in the run in sequence from your start number.
What is the minimum order and how are quantities counted?
The minimum is 100 cards in increments of 100. Custom printed artwork raises the minimum to 500. Every run is made to order and encoded to your exact specification.
