Description
The IDP 653540 Contactless Smart Card Encoder is an encoding option for IDP SMART series ID card printers. Fitted to the printer, it lets a single pass both print the card and write to its contactless chip, so access control credentials, payment cards and campus cards can be personalized and encoded in one operation instead of being handled on a separate desktop encoder. It supports ISO 14443 Type A and Type B, MIFARE, DESFire and iCLASS credentials.
IDP builds the SMART series around field-upgradeable encoders for magnetic stripe, contact smart card and contactless smart card, and contactless encoding is an option on the SMART-31, SMART-51, SMART-70 and SMART-81. That means the option can be added to a printer bought without encoding rather than requiring a new machine. The SMART-21 takes magnetic stripe encoding only. This encoder is unrelated to the separate SMART Wi-Fi kit, which adds network connectivity rather than card encoding.
