The Evolis Zenius 2 is a compact single-sided ID card printer built to do the essentials well: sharp, edge-to-edge dye-sublimation printing at 300 dpi for small and medium card runs, from a desktop footprint of just 7.3 pounds. Load a ribbon cassette, drop in up to 50 cards, and print professional photo IDs at up to 180 color cards per hour.
Magnetic stripe encoding built in
This configuration writes ISO 7811 magnetic stripes, tracks 1, 2 and 3, high- or low-coercivity, inline as each card prints, so badges come out ready to swipe.
Easy for any operator
Everything happens from the front of the printer: graphical notifications for cleaning alerts and low ribbon or card levels, one-button operation, manual or automatic card feeding, and a drop-in ribbon cassette with automatic identification. The print head is operator-replaceable, and the printer supports both the standard High Trust ribbon range and the Easy4pro cardboard-cassette range that cuts plastic waste.
Software included
Every Zenius 2 ships with an ID-ALL Starter Edition license for designing and printing badges on Windows and macOS, plus Evolis Premium Suite 2 drivers with Windows certification. Upgrades to higher ID-ALL editions are sold separately, and a free SDK supports custom integrations.
Specialist ID is an authorized Evolis dealer. The Zenius 2 carries a 3-year printer warranty and a 3-year warranty on the original print head when genuine Evolis High Trust ribbons are used.

What is the difference between the Zenius 2 Classic and the Zenius 2 Expert?
The Classic version connects over USB only and does not accept encoding options. The Expert version adds 10/100 Ethernet networking and supports the factory encoding options (magnetic stripe and smart card encoders) plus the YMCKOO high-durability ribbon. Use the connectivity selector above to switch between them.
Can the Zenius 2 print on both sides of a card?
The Zenius 2 is a single-sided printer. You can print card backs by manually re-feeding cards, but if you need automatic dual-sided printing, look at the Evolis Primacy 2.
Which ribbons does the Zenius 2 use?
The Zenius 2 uses Evolis High Trust ribbons made for the Zenius 2 and Primacy 2 generation, in both the standard cassette range and the Easy4pro cardboard-cassette range (for example R5F202A100 or N5F202A100 YMCKO, 200 prints). Ribbons for the original Zenius do not fit. The YMCKOO ribbon is supported on the Expert version only. See Compatible Supplies below for the exact list.
What software comes with the Zenius 2?
Every Zenius 2 includes a license for ID-ALL Starter Edition badge design software (Windows and macOS) plus Evolis Premium Suite 2 drivers. Upgrades to ID-ALL Standard, Advanced, and Expert editions are sold separately.
Can I add magnetic stripe or smart card encoding later?
Encoding options are available factory-installed on the Expert platform, and most encoder kits can also be installed on-site on an Expert printer. The Classic (USB) version does not support encoding options. If you know you will need encoding, choose the configuration with the encoder built in.
What warranty does the Zenius 2 carry?
Evolis covers the Zenius 2 with a 3-year printer warranty and a 3-year warranty on the original print head, conditioned on the use of genuine Evolis High Trust ribbons. A 1-year extension (EWZN112SD) is available.
What cards does the Zenius 2 accept?
ISO CR-80 cards from 10 to 30 mil (0.25 to 0.76 mm): PVC and composite PVC for color printing, plus PET, paper, and rewritable cards with the matching monochrome ribbon. 10 mil cards are for monochrome printing only.
