Description

The HID Seos 565 is the clamshell version of the Seos credential: the same 8K byte chip and Secure Identity Object as the Seos 500 card, in a thicker moulded body with a matt vinyl label on the front and a moulded HID logo on the back. It ships slot punched vertically, ready for a lanyard clip.

One thing to know up front, because it works differently here than elsewhere in the catalogue. On the iCLASS family the clamshell is the budget option — the iCLASS 2080 costs about a third less than the printable 2000. On Seos it does not: HID charges the same for the 565 clamshell as for the 500 card, so this is not the cheap way into Seos. Buy it for durability and for the form factor, not to save money. If cost per credential is what decides the order, the Seos 570 paper card is the least expensive Seos credential HID make.

What you are buying instead is toughness. HID rate the welded ABS body from -13 to 185 °F, wider than the -40 to 158 °F of the composite cards, and test it against 24-hour exposure to salt water, salt mist, acetic acid, carbonated sodium, sugared water and ethylene glycol. That makes it the flat Seos credential for outdoor gates, plant, food processing and anywhere a PVC card comes back chewed. The trade-off is printing: a clamshell will not feed through a card printer and cannot carry a photo ID, so where the badge has to be seen as well as read, use the Seos 500.

The chip platform is Common Criteria EAL5+ certified and ships with a random UID by default, which is the privacy-preserving choice. To order, give us your card format, your facility or site code, and the starting card number — they are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork.
