Description
The HID 600 is a long-range access credential. Where every other card in this catalogue is read at a few inches, this one works at 860 to 960 MHz — UHF — and reads at up to five metres depending on the installation. That is the difference between a driver winding down a window at a barrier and a driver not slowing down at all, which is why it is the card for parking, gates, vehicle access and hospital campuses.
What makes it an HID credential rather than a generic UHF tag is the SIO. Its 512 bits of user memory hold a PACS Secure Identity Object, so the credential number is wrapped in HID's own layer of encryption and authentication and the card is bound to your access control system rather than being a freely readable serial number. It operates with the iCLASS SE U90 reader.
Printing is the constraint to plan around. HID are emphatic that high definition retransfer (HDP) is the only recommended print process for this card — direct-to-card and other processes will not produce acceptable results. Card marking is done by laser engraving. You can also add a magnetic stripe, a barcode or an anti-counterfeiting element.
