About this card

The HID iCLASS SE 3154 is a migration card with the largest memory HID puts in one. It carries two independent chips: 13.56 MHz iCLASS SE with 32k bits (4k bytes) of read/write memory — 16k bits across sixteen securely separated application areas plus 16k bits you configure yourself — and a separate 125 kHz HID Prox chip. One card opens the doors on your old Prox readers and the doors on your new SE readers.

That is what a dual-technology card is for. You do not have to swap every reader in the building on one weekend, and you do not have to issue two credentials to every employee. You reissue once, then replace readers at whatever pace the budget allows, and the card keeps working on both sides throughout. When the last Prox reader is gone, the next reissue drops to a single-technology card.

The 32k memory is the other half of the decision. Sixteen application areas let the same card carry biometric templates, cashless vending, time and attendance or PC logon alongside access control, each behind its own 64-bit diversified key. If the card only needs to open doors on both technologies, the 2k iCLASS SE 3150 does exactly that for less.

The body is PVC/PET composite, which is what you need for a retransfer (high definition) or laminating printer — both bond with heat, and plain PVC warps under it. The iCLASS SE side is programmed with a Secure Identity Object (SIO); the 125 kHz side takes an HID Prox or Indala format. Because there are two chips, ordering asks for two sets of encoding data. If you only need the iCLASS side programmed, the configurator has that option and the 125 kHz fields disappear.

To order, have your card format, facility or site code and starting card number ready for each technology you want encoded. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. For classic iCLASS rather than SE, the iCLASS 2124 is the 32k dual-technology equivalent.

Frequently asked questions

Why would I buy a card with two technologies in it?
To migrate without a big-bang reader swap. The card works on your existing 125 kHz Prox readers and on new iCLASS SE readers at the same time, so you reissue credentials once and then replace readers at whatever pace suits the budget. When the last Prox reader is gone, your next reissue can drop to a single-technology card.
Do I need 32k, or will the 3150 do?
If the card only opens doors on both technologies, the 2k iCLASS SE 3150 does that for less. The 3154 earns the difference when the same card also has to carry biometric templates, cashless vending, time and attendance or PC logon - its 32k bits are split into 16 securely separated application areas plus 16k bits you configure yourself.
Do I have to program both sides?
No. You can have the iCLASS SE side programmed and leave the 125 kHz side blank. Choose that option in the configurator and the 125 kHz format, facility code and card range fields disappear, because they no longer apply.
What encoding data do you need from me?
For each technology you want programmed: the card format, the facility or site code, and the starting card number. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. Because there are two chips, a card programmed on both sides needs two sets.
What is the minimum order and how are quantities counted?
The minimum is 100 cards in increments of 100. Custom printed artwork raises the minimum to 500. Every run is made to order and encoded to your exact specification.
