About this card
The HID iCLASS SE 3350 is the cheapest way into the iCLASS SE platform. It carries the same 13.56 MHz chip and the same 2k bits (256 bytes) of read/write memory as the printable iCLASS SE 3000, and the same Secure Identity Object programming — but instead of a thin printable card body it uses a moulded ABS shell with a PVC cover label. That construction is why it costs roughly two thirds of the printable card.
The trade-off is that you cannot print on it. A clamshell is 0.070 in thick, more than twice a standard CR80 card, and no ID card printer will take it. If you need a photo, a name or a logo on the credential, you print a separate badge and carry both, or you buy the printable 3000 instead.
Where a clamshell is the right answer: contractors, visitors, back-of-house staff, gates and car parks, and anywhere the credential takes a beating. The ABS shell is built for harsh environments, rated from -40 to 160 °F, and it survives being dropped and stood on in ways a 30 mil card does not. Every 3350 ships with a vertical slot punch, so it goes straight onto a strap clip or lanyard.
SIO is the encoding. It wraps the credential number in its own layer of encryption and authentication, binding the card to the platform rather than to a single reader technology. Cards programmed this way work on iCLASS SE and HID Signo readers. SE cards are not available with the legacy iCLASS access control application — for that, the iCLASS 2080 clamshell is the equivalent that spans both.
To order programmed cards, give us three things: your card format, your facility or site code, and the starting card number. They are printed on the box your current cards came in, or on your original HID paperwork. We encode every card in the run in sequence from your start number.
